Gr. 5 - Show how to look up books in the library's online catalog, let students practice on computers and find books on the shelves.
Parents, please encourage your students to read every day. Even 10 minutes a day can help your student do better in school; 20 minutes a day is even better. They don't have to write about what they read, or note their time on a reading log, just read. Allow them to read what they want - comics, magazine articles, nonfiction books, picture books, fiction of all genres; the more they read what they enjoy, the more their reading skills improve, and chances are their grades will also improve. If your students are too young to read or are just beginning, read to and with them.
